Samsung has unveiled its latest audio offering, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE, which blend premium features with an accessible price point. The new earbuds, set to launch in the United States on September 4, 2023, showcase a significant design shift from the previous generation. The transition from the “bean” design to a more traditional stemmed style aligns the Buds 3 FE with the broader Samsung earbud lineup.

One of the most notable changes is the introduction of silicone eartips, enhancing the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capabilities and overall sound quality. Additionally, the new model boasts an IP54 rating, providing resistance to dust and water, which increases its durability for everyday use. Samsung promises up to 6 hours of listening time with ANC activated, and a total of 30 hours when accounting for recharges via the case.

AI Integration and Features

The standout feature of the Galaxy Buds 3 FE is the integration of artificial intelligence. Users can access Samsung’s Galaxy AI capabilities, including the real-time Interpreter app, and hands-free access to Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, using the command “Hey Google.” This move expands Gemini’s functionality beyond the Pixel Buds, offering users a seamless experience across devices. The feature was initially announced in May and has recently begun rolling out to existing Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, contingent on the latest Android 16 (One UI 8) update.

While it remains uncertain if the Gemini feature will be restricted to One UI 8 for the Buds 3 FE, its potential availability could position these earbuds as the most straightforward option for accessing Google’s advanced AI capabilities through Samsung devices.

Other significant features include support for Find My Earbuds, an ambient sound mode for increased awareness of surroundings, and the ability to auto-switch between Samsung devices, enhancing user experience.

Pricing and Market Position

The Galaxy Buds 3 FE will retail for $149.99, which is $50 more than their predecessors. This pricing places them in a competitive segment of the market, and it remains to be seen how consumers will respond to the new features and higher price point. As Samsung continues to innovate within its product range, the reception of the Buds 3 FE could influence future designs and feature sets across similar audio devices.

As these earbuds prepare for their debut, they promise to deliver a compelling combination of design, sound quality, and cutting-edge technology.
