Radio host Kyle Sandilands did not appear on Thursday’s episode of his breakfast show on KIIS FM, just days after expressing concerns about his health during a live broadcast. On Tuesday, Sandilands seemed disoriented, mentioning that he might have suffered a “stroke” while on-air. This incident has raised concerns among his listeners and followers regarding his well-being.
During Tuesday’s show, Sandilands struggled to articulate his thoughts, repeatedly mispronouncing words. He stated, “I think I’ve had a stroke. I feel that I’ve said the wrong words multiple times this morning, and I’m not super tired.” His co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, quickly reassured him, saying, “No, you haven’t.” A producer later confirmed that Sandilands had mistakenly confused the words “mattock” and “Matlock,” but his comments have nonetheless sparked alarm.
Health Challenges and Weight Gain
Sandilands, who was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm earlier this year, has faced numerous health challenges. In a candid conversation last month, he revealed that he has found it increasingly difficult to engage in physical activities due to a significant weight gain. He disclosed that he now weighs 138 kg, having added 12 kg since the previous year.
“I thought I was massive. I’ve been a bit … I don’t know whether ‘depressed’ is the word? Ever since this aneurysm thing came up a year ago,” he admitted. He also mentioned that his wife often encourages him to join her and their son, Otto, for walks, but he feels too unmotivated to participate.
Despite being aware of his weight issues, Sandilands has expressed reluctance to alter his eating habits. He joked about his unhealthy choices, stating, “I also use an opportunity to eat a packet of chicken and biscuits! I know I’m doing myself in.”
Future Plans and Health Tests
This week, Sandilands underwent a series of medical tests to assess his health. “I did all these scans yesterday; I haven’t got the results yet,” he said. If the results are positive, he plans to launch a support initiative called “Kyle’s Big Fatso Club,” inviting others to join him on a journey toward better health. “Who is with me?” he asked, indicating his desire to foster a community focused on wellness.
Listeners have expressed their concern for Sandilands, hoping for his swift recovery and return to the airwaves. His absence has left a noticeable gap in the show, and fans eagerly await updates on both his health and potential return to broadcasting.
