cristiano-ronaldo-scores-100-goals-for-four-clubs-despite-loss

Cristiano Ronaldo made history by becoming the first player to score 100 competitive goals for four different clubs, achieving this milestone while playing for Al-Nassr during the Saudi Super Cup. Despite his remarkable accomplishment, Al-Nassr ultimately lost to Al-Ahli in a penalty shootout after the match ended in a 2-2 draw on January 7, 2024, at Hong Kong Stadium.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in December 2022, reached this significant milestone with a first-half penalty, marking his 100th goal for the Saudi Arabian club. This achievement adds to his impressive records: 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 goals for Manchester United, and 101 goals for Juventus. He now surpasses players like Isidro Langara, as well as Brazilian legends Romario and Neymar, who have each scored 100 times for three clubs.

The match saw Ronaldo put Al-Nassr ahead with his penalty in the 41st minute. However, Al-Ahli’s Franck Kessie quickly equalized, keeping the contest alive. With just seven minutes left in regular time, Marcelo Brozovic regained the lead for Al-Nassr, but the drama continued as Brazilian defender Ibanez scored from a corner, forcing the game into penalties.

In the shootout, Ronaldo successfully converted his penalty, but his teammate Abdullah Al-Khaibari missed, allowing Al-Ahli to clinch the victory with a 5-3 win in penalties. This defeat means Ronaldo has yet to secure a major trophy since his move to Saudi Arabia.

Despite the loss, Ronaldo remains a prolific figure on the international stage, holding the record as the leading goalscorer for Portugal with 138 goals. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to defy age and expectations, showcasing his talent and commitment on the field.
