URGENT UPDATE: A driver has been charged following a serious collision with an e-scooter rider in South Kalgoorlie early Saturday morning. The incident, which left the 37-year-old e-scooter rider in critical condition, occurred around 4:45 AM on Edgar Street, near Clive Street.
Authorities from WA Police confirmed that the 30-year-old driver of a white Hyundai Getz allegedly struck the e-scooter rider and then failed to stop, fleeing the scene. The injured rider was promptly transported to Kalgoorlie Health Campus for urgent medical treatment.
On September 22, the driver will face charges in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court for failing to stop and provide assistance after causing grievous bodily harm. Additional charges include driving without a valid license and possession of a prohibited drug, specifically methylamphetamine.
