URGENT UPDATE: Authorities have dismantled a major drug trafficking operation in Victoria, seizing over $12 million worth of cocaine in a series of police raids. The operation, which unfolded on September 8, 2023, resulted in the arrest of a delivery driver on the Hume Highway near Euroa and a second suspect in Sunshine.
Police intercepted two alleged drug couriers, confiscating a staggering 38 kilograms of cocaine and 16 kilograms of methamphetamine. The raids occurred at two properties in Melbourne, with investigators uncovering a “sophisticated” clandestine lab in Braybrook.
Major Drug Squad detective inspector Jamie Walker condemned the trafficking operation, stating it has fueled “violence, crime, and trauma” across the region. “Our team has been relentless in tracking down offenders and removing considerable quantities of drugs from the streets,” he asserted.
During the raids, police also seized over $70,000 in cash, multiple mobile phones, various chemicals, equipment, and firearms. A total of 32 kilograms of cocaine was confiscated from the delivery drivers, with an additional 6 kilograms sourced from the Braybrook lab.
Three men were arrested in connection with the trafficking operation. A 30-year-old man from Sunshine faces charges for trafficking large commercial quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as possession of manufacturing equipment. Additionally, a 31-year-old from Cairnlea and a 26-year-old from Fraser Rise were charged with trafficking large commercial quantities of cocaine.
All three suspects have been remanded and are scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on January 30, 2026.
