BREAKING: Twenty-somethings Grace and Pierce Roseby have just secured a $1.9 million two-bedroom apartment in St Leonards, Sydney, signaling a significant shift in family living dynamics. The siblings, aged 23 and 25, have made a crucial deposit on their new home, which will be ready soon, allowing them to embrace independence while keeping family ties strong.
Their parents, Michele and David Roseby, both 56, are also making a move, purchasing a four-bedroom apartment in the same building. This unique arrangement means that Grace and Pierce will only be a few steps away from their parents, offering them the convenience of family support while enhancing their autonomy.
“I think it will work out really well,” Grace, a schoolteacher, stated. “When we sell our big family home and we all move, it will mean we’ll have more independence and more financial responsibility. It will be the best of both worlds.”
The siblings co-invested in their new apartment at The Collective, a master-planned community known for its prime location and modern amenities. With the help of their parents, who contributed $50,000 each towards the deposit, Grace and Pierce are excited about their first step into the property market.
“It was a great opportunity to get into the market,” Pierce, who works in tech sales and plays VFL football for the Sydney Swans reserves, shared. “The development is in a really good area, close to the city with the metro and infrastructure, and plenty of cafes and shops.”
This evolving family structure reflects a new trend among younger generations seeking both independence and connection. As Grace noted, “If we do end up having noisy parties, we’ll work that out later with Mum and Dad,” highlighting the humor and practicality of their situation.
The Roseby family’s story resonates with many as more parents and adult children seek innovative housing solutions that cater to modern lifestyles. Their joint investment not only strengthens family bonds but also addresses the rising challenges of homeownership in urban centers.
As families reconsider living arrangements, this trend is expected to grow, offering a fresh perspective on how to navigate adulthood while maintaining close family ties.
Stay tuned for updates on how the Rosebys adjust to their new living situation and what other families might follow suit in this evolving housing landscape.
