Austin-based taco chain Tacodeli is set to expand its footprint in Texas, with plans for several new locations in the coming months. The company aims to open two new restaurants in the Austin metropolitan area and one in Houston, according to a report from the Business Journal. CEO Peter Gaudreau indicated that Tacodeli could grow to as many as 40 locations by 2029.
The two Austin locations are currently vacant lots, with one situated in Tech Ridge at 12705 Center Lake Drive and the other in Leander at 408 E. San Gabriel Parkway. The Houston-area store will be located at 19302 Katy Freeway. Specific timelines for construction and completion of these sites have yet to be established.
Roberto Espinosa, co-owner and founder of Tacodeli, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s potential growth. He noted that the expansion reflects the ongoing development of Austin itself, stating, “The growth is allowing us to go further than we thought we would in Austin — the city is expanding.”
Future plans for Tacodeli include additional locations in Kyle, Dripping Springs, Georgetown, and Round Rock. Gaudreau also mentioned ambitions to extend south toward San Antonio. The company seeks to establish restaurants in ideal locations, such as end caps or stand-alone sites near popular grocery stores like Whole Foods Market and H-E-B, as well as fitness centers, coffee shops, and juice bars.
Espinosa highlighted the value of partnering with local businesses, particularly with JuiceLand, stating, “We have a very good synergistic relationship with JuiceLand. We’re next door to them in many local shops.”
The collaboration with H-E-B is also noteworthy, as the grocery chain looks to enhance its offerings. Espinosa explained how partnering with H-E-B aligns well with Tacodeli’s strategy, noting, “It works well because they look for opportunities to bring people into their grab-and-go settings and their coffee shops and their new layout with barbecue.” He also mentioned a pilot program currently in place, where Tacodeli tacos are served in the morning at eight H-E-B locations.
As Tacodeli moves forward with its expansion strategy, the company remains focused on delivering quality food while building strong community ties. The anticipated new locations are expected to cater to an increasingly diverse customer base and enhance the culinary landscape of Texas.
