Australian actress and singer Holly Valance was spotted at a significant protest in London over the weekend, where she appeared alongside right-wing activist Tommy Robinson. The event, dubbed the “Unite the Kingdom” rally, drew an estimated 110,000 to 150,000 participants who marched through the streets calling for an end to mass migration.
Valance, known for her role in the television series Neighbours, was photographed wearing a black cap emblazoned with the phrase “Make England Great Again.” During an interview with News Corp Australia‘s Europe Correspondent Sophie Elsworth, she expressed her support for Robinson, who has faced legal issues in the past, stating, “I’m very proud and pleased for Tommy, this is his redemption.” Valance further remarked on the societal perception of Robinson, calling it a “case study for sociology.”
The rally took place on Saturday, October 7, 2023, and was organized by Robinson, a prominent figure in UK far-right activism. He characterized the gathering as the country’s “biggest free speech festival,” honoring the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk during the proceedings. Participants, many waving English and British flags, gathered around Westminster, culminating in speeches from various far-right leaders from Europe and North America.
Despite the large turnout, the event was marred by violence, with reports of clashes between demonstrators and police. The Metropolitan Police stated that approximately 1,000 officers were deployed to maintain order, but violence erupted when some attendees attempted to breach security barriers set up to separate them from counter-protesters.
According to police, officers were met with “unacceptable violence,” including assaults, and projectiles such as bottles and flares were thrown at them. As a result, nine arrests were made on various charges, with additional suspects identified for committing offenses during the protests.
Valance’s attendance at the rally follows her growing association with conservative politics, particularly after her split from billionaire husband Nick Candy in June 2023. In previous statements, she has mentioned a shift in her political views, claiming, “Everyone starts off as a leftie and then wakes up at some point after making money.” This rally marks another instance of her public support for right-wing ideologies.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, took to social media after the event to declare, “The silent majority will be silent no longer.” He described the gathering as a cultural revolution, asserting that “millions hit central London in a show of patriotic unity like nothing seen before.”
As the protests unfolded, a counter demonstration organized by the group Stand Up to Racism attracted around 5,000 participants
