Penny Lancaster, the 54-year-old television presenter, recently disclosed a notable aspect of her relationship with musician Sir Rod Stewart. In an interview with Woman and Home magazine, she stated that she is the “oldest woman” the 80-year-old rocker has ever been with, marking a significant milestone in their 18-year marriage.
Reflecting on their relationship, Lancaster recounted how they first met when she was just 27 years old. “I’m the oldest person Rod’s ever slept with – and that happened a long time ago,” she remarked. She noted that when they began dating, the oldest woman Stewart had been with was only 30 years old. Interestingly, Lancaster also mentioned that Stewart has become the oldest man she has been with as well.
Lancaster and Stewart share two sons, Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 14. Throughout their relationship, Lancaster faced moments of uncertainty, particularly regarding family. “My biggest burning desire was to have a family,” she explained. “I respected that he had been through that enough times, and that might not be where he would want to go again.”
The couple’s discussions about family planning revealed a deep understanding between them. Lancaster expressed that while they enjoyed their time together, she contemplated the possibility of leaving if they could not start a family. “He always says to me, ‘I wish I’d seen it earlier. If we had started earlier, we could have more children,’” she added. They even considered adoption after the birth of Alastair and Aiden.
Rod Stewart has a long history of fatherhood. He had his first child, Sarah Stewart, 61, at the age of 17, who was put up for adoption but later reconnected with him. He also has children from previous relationships, including daughter Kimberly, 47, and son Sean, 45, with ex-wife Alana Stewart, and daughter Ruby, 38, with former girlfriend Kelly Emberg. Additionally, he shares children Renee, 33, and Liam, 30, with ex-wife Rachel Hunter.
Despite their age difference and Stewart’s extensive family history, Lancaster’s candid remarks illustrate a relationship built on mutual respect and understanding, highlighting their journey through the complexities of family life and personal growth.
