UPDATE: Australia is experiencing its best snow season in three years, just in time for the school holidays! Ski resorts are bracing for a bustling period as students in Victoria and Queensland hit the slopes starting today, while those in South Australia, New South Wales (NSW), and the ACT wrap up their holidays this Friday.

Ski resorts in NSW are reporting stunning conditions, with clear blue skies and ample snow coverage across the mountains. At Perisher, all 32 lifts are operational, offering skiers a variety of terrains to explore, with snow depths exceeding 1.5 meters. This is a prime opportunity for winter sports enthusiasts to take advantage of the perfect conditions.

In Victoria, resorts received 1 cm of fresh snowfall overnight, bringing snow depth close to 1 meter at both Hotham Alpine Resort and Mount Buller. However, forecasts indicate thunderstorms and rain could impact the alpine regions as early as Monday afternoon, creating a sense of urgency for those planning trips.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), northern parts of Victoria will experience a frosty Tuesday morning, with showers expected in areas south of the ranges. Melbourne is set to reach a high of 18°C, while a cold front approaching Tasmania will bring strong westerly winds, clouds, and showers, making it feel even colder. Hobart is anticipated to reach a high of 17°C on Tuesday.

In northeast Queensland, showers are likely, with a strong southerly wind warning in effect for areas around K’gari and further south. Brisbane will remain partly cloudy, reaching a peak temperature of 25°C.

Southern parts of NSW will start with a cold and frosty morning, transitioning to sunny weather throughout the day. However, cooler temperatures will linger due to southerly winds. Sydney is projected to hit 19°C, while the nation’s capital is expected to be just a few degrees cooler. In Adelaide, conditions will be dry and sunny with a high of 18°C, despite morning frost and fog in the Eyre Peninsula.

In contrast, Western Australia will enjoy dry and sunny weather, with temperatures along the west coast and southwest land division reaching up to 10 degrees above average. Perth is on track to reach a high of 26°C on Tuesday.

This surge in snow conditions is a welcome boost for Australian ski resorts, promising an exhilarating holiday period for families and winter sports enthusiasts alike. As conditions change, travelers are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and resort conditions to make the most of this exceptional snow season.
