UPDATE: The Iramoo Community Centre in Wyndham Vale is launching an urgent call to action for the community to join the 1000 Hearts program. Founded by Tasmanian Sarah De Jonge in 2016, this initiative aims to combat pain and grief through the power of handmade kindness.
Since its inception at the community centre in 2021, the program has grown exponentially, encouraging individuals and groups to craft pocket-sized hearts filled with compassion. These heartfelt creations are distributed to locations where emotional support is crucial, including health care facilities and community organizations.
To date, the program has successfully donated over 500 hand-crafted hearts to local organizations, including the Werribee Mercy Hospital’s palliative care unit and Market Road Veterinary Clinic. Each heart acts as a beacon of hope, providing comfort to those in need and fostering a sense of unity and compassion among community members.
The next crafting session is scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2023, at 10 AM. Everyone is invited to participate, regardless of crafting skills—it’s truly the thought that counts. The community centre emphasizes that this initiative is about connection and support, making a positive impact through simple acts of love.
For those interested in joining, contact the Iramoo Community Centre at 8742 3688 or visit their website at www.iramoocc.org.au. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause and bring joy to those who need it most.
