UPDATE: Major construction disruptions are set to impact the Melton rail corridor as crews commence round-the-clock work throughout October. The construction is part of a significant project aimed at removing four level crossings and building a new Melton Station, leading to altered train services and increased noise in the area.
From 7 AM on Saturday, October 11 to 7 PM on Sunday, October 12, construction activities will occur between Coburns Road and Exford Road. This will involve installing track drainage, enhancing Platform 2 at Melton Station, constructing new rail bridges, and conducting critical signaling works. Residents and commuters should prepare for an escalation in noise and traffic disruptions during this period.
Additionally, overnight deliveries will take place from midnight to 6 AM on various nights between October 15 and October 31, particularly between Rees Road and Creek Street at the Melton site compound. Expect increased truck movements and construction vehicles during these hours, along with additional lighting and noise from oversized deliveries.
Train services on the Ballarat, Ararat, and Maryborough lines will also be affected, with service changes starting at 9 PM on Friday, October 10, and running until the last service on October 12.
According to Transport Victoria, residents are advised to maintain awareness of noise and traffic changes. Authorities will implement traffic management and signage during construction, ensuring that access to homes and businesses remains uninterrupted. Dust generated by construction activities will be managed through watercarts.
