URGENT UPDATE: Traffic on the Mitchell Freeway has been reduced to one lane following a serious police incident that occurred just after 9:00 AM on Sunday. This incident has caused significant delays for motorists, with backups extending all the way to Leederville on the freeway’s southbound lanes.

Motorists are now being rerouted to the Cedric Street off-ramp, which was previously closed due to construction work. Reports indicate that it has taken vehicles up to 40 minutes to travel a short distance between Glendalough Station and Cedric Street. Emergency services, including St John’s Ambulance, police, and Main Roads WA, are currently on-site managing the situation and directing traffic.

Authorities have also cordoned off areas near Stirling Station, further complicating traffic flow. Police are urging drivers to take the Powis Street exit to avoid congestion. With many vehicles being forced down side roads into Innaloo, the situation remains tense as emergency responders work to clear the scene.

Adding to the weekend’s chaos, police have confirmed another tragic incident in which two men lost their lives in a fatal crash in Miling, located in the Shire of Moora, early Saturday morning. This string of accidents highlights the urgent need for caution on WA’s roads as emergency services face overwhelming demands.

Authorities are urging all drivers to remain vigilant and to seek alternate routes if possible. Stay tuned for more updates as this situation develops.
