URGENT UPDATE: An active shooter situation is unfolding in Sydney’s inner west, with at least one person confirmed shot and the gunman still at large. Emergency services rushed to Croydon Park at approximately 7:30 PM after multiple reports of gunfire.

A spokesperson from NSW Ambulance revealed that a man in his 50s presented himself to Canterbury Hospital with a gunshot wound and has since been transferred to another facility. In addition, three individuals arrived at Campsie police station with minor injuries, two of whom required hospitalization. Another victim was treated at Croydon Park and transported to hospital; however, their condition remains unclear.

Witnesses claim the shooter is believed to be on the roof of a nearby restaurant, firing a total of four shots into the street. Police have issued an urgent warning for the public to “stay inside” as the situation develops. Officers have heavily populated the area, resulting in significant lockdown measures.

Georges River Rd is closed between Croydon Ave and Seymour St, with Brighton Ave also sealed off between Georges River Rd and Queensborough Rd. Authorities are utilizing Polair helicopters to monitor the situation from above.

“Specialist resources are attending, and the public is urged to stay inside. Motorists are advised to avoid the area,” police officials stated.
