Astrologer Natasha Weber, widely known as AstroTash, recently shared insights into the intricate world of astrology, emphasizing that it encompasses much more than the typical horoscopes many people are familiar with. In an interview with 7NEWS.com.au, she explained the foundational components of astrology and introduced a free birth chart calculator aimed at enhancing public understanding of this ancient practice.

Understanding the Basics of Astrology

Astrology is often simplified to just the twelve zodiac signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Weber noted that these signs, known as someone’s star sign or sun sign, represent fundamental aspects of a person’s character, based on the sun’s position at the time of their birth.

In addition to the sun sign, there are two other crucial components: the rising sign and the moon sign. The rising sign, or ascendant sign, changes frequently as it is determined by the easternmost point on the horizon during one’s birth. Weber described it as representing the image a person projects to the world, offering a more superficial layer of personality compared to the sun sign.

Conversely, the moon sign relates to an individual’s emotional landscape, shedding light on deeper characteristics and personal relationships. Weber explained, “It can show us our relationship with our mother or if motherhood is in our journey. It can reveal how we give and receive care and nurturing as well.” Together, these three elements—sun, rising, and moon signs—are collectively referred to as “the big three.”

The Significance of Birth Charts

The complexities of an individual’s astrological profile are captured in a birth chart, which is calculated using the exact time, date, and location of one’s birth. Weber emphasized that a birth chart is a “snapshot of the heavens” at the moment of birth, containing specific mathematical details unique to each person.

“The moment you were born, that moment in time and space has never happened before and will never, ever happen again,” she stated. A birth chart reveals the positions of the sun, moon, and planets within their respective zodiac signs, as well as the mathematical connections between them.

Another significant aspect of a birth chart is the twelve houses, which represent different areas of life, such as money, communication, family, and romance. Weber has spent the last three years developing a free birth chart calculator to make this deeper understanding of astrology accessible to a wider audience. She aims to move beyond the surface-level knowledge often associated with horoscopes.

“I wanted to broaden people’s horizons when it came to astrology,” Weber remarked, “to help those who may only know their sun sign to explore more about themselves.”

For individuals uncertain of their exact birth time, Weber reassured that it is still possible to construct a reasonably accurate birth chart. The sun sign can be easily identified, as the sun occupies a specific sign throughout an entire day. While the moon sign can change rapidly, Weber explained that if the moon is positioned in the middle of a zodiac sign at the time of calculation, it is likely to remain that way for the day of birth.

The rising sign, however, poses more of a challenge because it can shift every couple of hours.

AstroTash’s new birth chart feature is now available for free on her website, inviting individuals to delve deeper into their astrological identity. This initiative reflects Weber’s commitment to enriching the public’s knowledge of astrology, encouraging exploration beyond conventional star signs and horoscopes.
