Tropical Smoothie Cafe has officially opened its doors in Chicago’s South Loop Marketplace Shopping Center on October 11. The grand opening began at 08:00 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and festivities running until 21:00. Located at 1236 S. Canal St., this new cafe promises a vibrant addition to the local dining scene, featuring a variety of smoothies, wraps, sandwiches, and flatbreads.
The opening day celebrations included giveaways and prizes, drawing a crowd eager to sample the cafe’s offerings. The first 50 guests in line received a remarkable gift: free smoothies for a year. Additionally, customers could enjoy complimentary smoothies with any food or bowl purchase throughout the day.
Franchisees Cesar Coronado and Marlon Sullivan, who have successfully managed multiple Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations across the Chicagoland area, are overseeing this new establishment. They are also expanding their operations with another cafe set to open on Madison Street in the Chicago Loop shortly.

The cafe’s design features a bright, modern aesthetic that captures the essence of the brand, which was founded on a beach in 1997. Over the years, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has expanded to more than 1,600 locations across 44 states, inviting guests to indulge in its distinctive tropical flavors.
The cafe will also be available for delivery through popular apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub, ensuring that customers can enjoy their favorite smoothies and meals from the comfort of their homes.
