UPDATE: A series of suspicious fires erupted in Sydney’s west early Saturday morning, sending emergency services into a frenzy. At approximately 3 AM, firefighters rushed to a blazing fire at a Chinese restaurant located on West Lane in St Mary’s. The fire, which was already well advanced, posed a significant threat to nearby businesses before it was finally contained by 5 AM.

According to a spokesman from NSW Fire and Rescue, the restaurant sustained extensive fire damage, but neighboring establishments were fortunately spared. Authorities are treating this incident as suspicious, raising concerns among local residents.

Just thirty minutes later, another alarming fire broke out on Hinkler Avenue in Condell Park, involving multiple parked cars. Emergency crews discovered two vehicles engulfed in flames, with the fire rapidly spreading to a duplex in front of which they were parked. The front of the property suffered severe damage before firefighters managed to bring the fire under control. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported from either incident.

NSW Police are currently investigating these incidents and are treating the fire in Condell Park as suspicious as well, although they do not believe the two events are related at this time. Police have urged anyone who may have witnessed either fire, or who has dashcam or mobile phone footage from the areas involved, to contact them immediately at 1800 333 000 or reach out to Crime Stoppers.

Residents in the area are understandably shaken by the sudden outbreak of fires, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance. As investigations continue, authorities are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding these dangerous incidents.
