URGENT UPDATE: A child has been urgently flown to the hospital following a dingo attack at a popular campground on K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) in Queensland. The incident unfolded on October 14, 2023, at approximately 3:02 PM, near the Coolooloi Creek Campground Rd, as confirmed by the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS).

The child is currently receiving treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. This alarming incident raises serious concerns about wildlife interactions in tourist areas, especially given a similar attack earlier this year.

In May, a nine-year-old boy was bitten by a dingo at Yidney Rocks, highlighting the growing risks posed by these animals in popular destinations. Witnesses in that case reported rushing to assist the boy and even injuring the dingo in the process.

Authorities are urging visitors to exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings while in dingo habitats. As investigations continue, QAS has been contacted for further information regarding the child’s condition and safety measures at these campgrounds.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as officials work to ensure the safety of visitors and manage wildlife interactions effectively.
