URGENT UPDATE: Major accessibility improvements have just been completed at Kyneton Station, enhancing travel for thousands of passengers each week. A newly installed switchback ramp now provides better access for individuals using mobility aids, ensuring a smoother journey through the station.

The upgrades, which include enhanced lighting for nighttime visibility and a relocated bus shelter, are part of a broader initiative by V/Line to invest over $10 million in accessibility enhancements across 16 stations in the network. Kyneton Station, a pivotal stop established in 1862, services over 2,500 passengers weekly on the Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill train lines.

“We’re always looking for opportunities to make improvements. These important upgrades at Kyneton Station will support passengers with accessibility needs,” stated Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas.

In addition to the ramp, a new accessible ticket counter has also been introduced at Clarkefield Station along the Bendigo line, further emphasizing the commitment to passenger accessibility.

Public and Active Transport Minister Gabrielle Williams highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the public transport network. “We’re continually working to deliver a more accessible transport network, and these improvements will make a difference to passengers’ experience at Kyneton Station,” she affirmed.

Furthermore, the state government is addressing growing demand on the Bendigo line by increasing weekend train capacity. Services that previously operated with three carriage VLocity trains will now run with six carriages, enhancing travel options for passengers during peak times.

These developments come as part of a concerted effort to ensure that regional transport in Victoria remains safe, reliable, and accessible to all. With these significant upgrades, Kyneton Station is set to provide a much-improved experience for its passengers.
