UPDATE: A significant delay has just been announced in the case of a 15-year-old accused of fatally stabbing Greg Josephson, the co-founder of Universal Store, during a chaotic house party in Clayfield, Brisbane. This development comes as the teen’s legal team is still reviewing a substantial amount of evidence.
The teen was not present in the Brisbane Children’s Court during a brief mention of his case on Tuesday. Josephson, aged 58, was found dead at his home on June 26 around 8 PM, allegedly after an altercation took place during the party.
Defense attorney Kris Jahnke confirmed that the review of the evidence is ongoing and requested another adjournment to allow for further material to be disclosed. The case is now scheduled to return to court on November 25.
Josephson co-founded the popular clothing chain Universal Store in 1999 with his brother. Following its sale to private equity investors in 2018, he built a significant property and retail portfolio, although some assets have been sold or closed since his tragic death.
At a touching funeral in July, Josephson’s wife, Tamra, shared heartfelt memories of her husband, describing him as the “team captain” of their family. “He was the most gentle, soft, kind-hearted, generous, calm, positive, happy, intelligent man I have ever met,” she said, emphasizing the deep love they shared.
This case has captured public attention, raising questions about youth violence and the legal system’s handling of such serious charges. As the court date approaches, the community remains on high alert, waiting for further developments in this tragic incident.
