URGENT UPDATE: Babs Donaldson, a beloved figure in Griffith, has been honored for her remarkable 22 years of service to families battling severe health challenges through the charity Country Hope. This recognition comes as she steps down from her role as a Board Director, where her unwavering commitment has profoundly impacted the community.

Since 2003, Mrs. Donaldson has been a cornerstone of Country Hope, supporting families with children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Her efforts have included both financial and emotional support during their most challenging times. “It has been an incredible privilege to be part of such a caring family-focused organization,” Mrs. Donaldson stated. “Seeing the difference Country Hope makes across the Griffith community is what kept me going for so many years. There is still plenty of work to be done.”

The charity’s Board Chair, Anne Lowe, recently presented Mrs. Donaldson with an Infinity Pin, the highest recognition awarded by Country Hope. This honor reflects her endless influence and dedication to the organization. Despite stepping down to care for her late husband, Bill Donaldson, who passed away in 2024, she remains committed to assisting Riverina families in need.

Board Director Morris Massarroto praised Mrs. Donaldson, saying, “She has been the driving force behind our presence in Griffith since she joined our inaugural Board over two decades ago. Thanks to her tireless volunteer work, vital fundraising efforts, and fearless advocacy, she has ensured hundreds of Riverina families have never needed to face these harrowing journeys alone.”

Currently, Country Hope supports 14 families across the MIA area and aims to expand its outreach in 2026. The charity hopes that the inspiring work of dedicated community members like Mrs. Donaldson will motivate others to volunteer, fundraise, or support their mission.
