The popular bakery brand Dash Cakes is officially opening a new location in Wodonga on October 25, 2023. With a strong presence in the region since 2020 through its successful Dash Espresso Bar + Cake Bites in Albury, the expansion marks a significant milestone for owner Carmen Connell and her dedicated team. The new store, located at 88 High Street, aims to delight the local community with a variety of custom cakes, desserts, and baked goods.
Carmen Connell sees Wodonga as the perfect next step for her growing business. “We needed a production kitchen, and it was the perfect opportunity to bring our products across the border and expand our market,” she explained. The move not only addresses operational needs but also allows Dash Cakes to tap into Wodonga’s evolving business landscape, which Carmen describes as vibrant and well-suited to her brand.
Expanding Offerings and Community Engagement
Dash Cakes specializes in custom cakes, cupcakes, and desserts for all occasions, allowing customers to celebrate life’s special moments with delicious treats. Carmen has been in the baking business for years, starting from her home and gradually building a loyal customer base through social media. “I love bringing extra joy to people’s special celebrations,” she shared.
One of the highlights of Dash Cakes is their “Cake in a Dash” range, which has gained popularity over the past year. This selection offers customers a variety of visually appealing and tasty cakes available for last-minute orders. “We can also customize the range for next day pick-up if orders are placed before 10:00 AM,” Carmen noted, emphasizing the convenience for busy customers.
Carmen oversees daily operations alongside her partner, Glenn, who recently joined the team as the business expands. Together, they manage a passionate staff committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers. “The most rewarding aspect is seeing our customers enjoy what we have created,” Carmen expressed. She looks forward to establishing similar connections with the Wodonga community.
New Products and Future Plans
The Wodonga location will not only feature existing favorites but also new creations that have been in the works during their time in Albury. Carmen mentioned, “It’s been a while since we have been able to work on our product development due to space restrictions. We already have quite a few ideas and plans, so there are definitely some exciting new treats being launched with the Wodonga location!”
Customers can expect the store to open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM from Monday to Friday, and 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturdays. The team is considering Sunday trading and extended hours to better accommodate local demand.
As the opening day approaches, Dash Cakes invites the Wodonga community to visit and enjoy their signature iced matcha drinks and a slice of cake. “Our matcha drinks are quite a specialty of ours and have become a large part of our business,” Carmen revealed. The anticipation is building, and Dash Cakes is eager to contribute to the local culinary landscape, one delightful cake at a time.
