Trainer Joe Pride is preparing to test the potential of promising Godolphin filly Taxation as she competes in the Calerie Life Sprint at Rosehill on Wednesday. Following his recent success with Attica in the Spring Champion Stakes, Pride believes Taxation possesses significant ability and is eager to see how she performs against more experienced rivals.

Taxation, a three-year-old filly, made an impressive debut earlier this month, winning a maiden race at Hawkesbury. Despite her lack of experience, Pride has opted to enter her directly into a Benchmark 72 race, bypassing lower grades. “I’ve never minded doing that when I’ve got horses that have the quality,” Pride stated. “If you think a horse is on a trajectory to being a black type horse, it’s a bit different. I don’t mind chancing my arm and finding out; you can always come back.”

Pride’s decision to scratch Taxation from a Class 1 race at Hawkesbury demonstrates his confidence in her capabilities. He expressed that he wants to assess how good she is at this stage and believes the upcoming autumn season will be advantageous for her development.

Taxation is notably the first foal of Amercement, a Group 3 winner, which adds to her pedigree and potential. Pride noted that she was one of the standout horses when he reviewed the entries sent to his stable by Godolphin.

As race day approaches, all eyes will be on Taxation to see if she can deliver a strong performance that solidifies her position as a rising star in the competitive racing scene.
