gisborne-to-gain-66-extra-weekly-bus-trips-starting-nov-16

UPDATE: Gisborne residents can expect a significant boost in public transport options as 66 extra bus trips will be added weekly starting Sunday, November 16. Public and Active Transport Minister Gabrielle Williams confirmed the enhancements today, ensuring greater connectivity for the local community.

This development means that services on Routes 73 and 74 will now operate later into the evening on weekends, providing residents with increased flexibility for outings and access to essential locations. Weekend services will now run until 11:19 PM on Saturdays and 10:19 PM on Sundays for Route 73. Route 74 will extend its Friday service until 12:18 AM, Saturdays until 10:58 PM, and Sundays until 9:58 PM.

These expanded travel options are crucial for Gisborne locals looking to enjoy evening events in the Melbourne CBD or attend sports matches, allowing them to travel back home the same day. With services continuing to run every 60 minutes, residents can rely on a consistent and accessible public transport system.

Gabrielle Williams emphasized the importance of these upgrades:

“We know how important reliable public transport is for local communities, and these extra bus services will make it easier for Gisborne locals to get out and about on weekends.”

The new bus schedules will also improve connections to key locations such as the Gisborne Central Shopping Centre, local schools, medical clinics, and aged care centres, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas expressed her support for the announcement, stating,

“These extra services will be great for our local community and make it easier for Gisborne residents to get around our local area.”

This upgrade follows last year’s enhancements to the Gisborne bus network, which introduced a more flexible system with longer hours and better coverage of new estates and schools. Residents can look forward to increased accessibility and convenience, making it a vital development for Gisborne’s transport landscape.

As these changes take effect, local residents are encouraged to take advantage of the expanded services, making travel to essential destinations and leisure activities more seamless than ever. Stay tuned for additional updates on the impact of these changes in the coming weeks.
