Arsenal made headlines this week, not just for their impressive performance but also for breaking multiple records during their Carabao Cup match against Brighton. At the forefront of this achievement was Max Dowman, who became the youngest player in Arsenal’s history to start a competitive match, at just 15 years and 302 days old. His lively performance contributed to a solid 2-0 victory in the fourth round, but the team’s overall success against Brighton highlighted their growing dominance in English football this season.

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has reason to celebrate as his squad continues to excel. The Gunners have secured 12 wins out of their first 14 matches across all competitions this season. Their only setbacks include a narrow 1-0 loss to Liverpool in August and a 1-1 draw at home against Manchester City in September. Since that draw, Arsenal has strung together an impressive eight consecutive victories, gaining a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, maintaining a perfect record in the Champions League, and advancing to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Historic Milestone in October

The match against Brighton marked a particularly significant moment for Arsenal. According to data from Opta, the victory established Arsenal as the first team in English top-flight history to win at least six matches in a month without conceding a single goal. Their remarkable October began with a 2-0 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League on October 1, 2023, followed by a duplicate scoreline against West Ham United in the Premier League three days later.

After the international break, Arsenal continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory against Fulham on October 18 and a commanding 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in Europe. They then secured a 1-0 win against Cristal Palace before defeating Brighton with goals from Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka, marking their sixth consecutive victory without conceding.

Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya, has not been beaten since September, contributing to the club’s solid defensive performance. This achievement sets the stage for Arsenal to aim for another significant milestone, as they are now just two games away from equaling their club record of eight consecutive clean sheets, a feat they last accomplished in 1903.

Upcoming Challenges

To surpass their historic record, Arsenal must maintain their defensive prowess over the next few matches. They face a challenging schedule, with upcoming away games against Burnley and Sunderland, along with a Champions League match against Slavia Prague within the next nine days. As Arsenal continues to build momentum, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if they can extend their remarkable form and solidify their position as a top contender in English football this season.
