macquarie-medi-spa-launches-major-renovation-amid-cbd-challenges

BREAKING: Macquarie Medi Spa in Bathurst has just unveiled a stunning renovation, cementing its commitment to the community amid challenges faced by many brick-and-mortar businesses. Owner Karla McDiarmid announced the completion of significant upgrades on October 2025, as she expands services in a bold move to enhance customer experience.

In a time when many businesses struggle, Macquarie Medi Spa is making waves with a substantial financial investment to improve its facilities. The renovation combines front and rear tenancies of the building purchased in 2023, providing essential street frontage to Howick Street and additional space for new beauty services, including a return to makeup offerings.

“After COVID, there were no events, so we got rid of makeup,” Ms. McDiarmid explained. She emphasized the growth potential in advanced skin treatments, stating, “We’ve actually invested in another device for tattoo removal, radiofrequency, and IPL hair removal, all coming in the next few months.”

This renovation is just the beginning. Ms. McDiarmid has ambitious plans for a second phase of renovations in 2026, which will include more treatment rooms and upgraded staff amenities. “There’s two more rooms that we can turn into treatment rooms,” she noted, highlighting the spa’s commitment to expanding its offerings.

The spa owner, who has been in business for over 20 years, is passionate about Bathurst. “I get really upset when people are negative about where we live because they don’t realize how lucky we are,” she said, expressing her deep connection to the regional city. Her love for Bathurst drives her continuous investment in services that rival those found in metropolitan areas.

“I don’t want to have to go to Sydney for treatments, and that’s why we’ve only got the best here,” Ms. McDiarmid stated. She envisions Macquarie Medi Spa as a “one-stop shop for professional skincare, advice, treatments, and products,” underscoring the importance of local accessibility.

The renovations also expanded retail space, allowing customers to try high-quality products before purchase. “If they keep buying online, they’re going to just keep saying ‘bye-bye’ to retail shops in town,” she warned, emphasizing the need for local businesses to thrive.

With a focus on quality and service, Macquarie Medi Spa aims to provide Bathurst residents with top-notch beauty care without the need to travel far. “Bathurst deserves the best, so we’re bringing it,” Ms. McDiarmid declared.

As the renovations are unveiled, locals are encouraged to visit the newly revamped spa to explore the expanded range of services and products. With plans for further growth ahead, Macquarie Medi Spa is poised to become a cornerstone of the Bathurst CBD, demonstrating that resilience is possible even in challenging times.

Stay tuned for updates on the second stage of renovations and new service offerings expected in the coming months.
