UPDATE: A tragic incident occurred just after 8 PM on October 27, 2023, when an eight-month pregnant woman and her unborn child were killed in a horrific car park crash in Hornsby, a suburb in Sydney’s northwest. Emergency services rushed to the scene at the entrance of a car park on George Street after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

Authorities confirm that the woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being transported to Westmead Hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, both she and her baby succumbed to their injuries shortly thereafter, leaving a community in shock.

The driver involved, a 19-year-old male operating a white BMW, was uninjured in the crash. Alongside him, a 48-year-old male driving a silver Kia Carnival was also unharmed. Both drivers underwent mandatory testing at Hornsby Hospital as part of standard protocol.

Police from Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command established a crime scene, which is currently under investigation by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit. The young driver was arrested at approximately 12:45 AM on Saturday at a residence in Wahroonga and has been taken to Hornsby Police Station where inquiries are ongoing.
