A state-of-the-art mobile clinic is heading to remote WA, including the Pilbara and Kimberley, to deliver life-saving lung cancer screenings.
URGENT UPDATE: A revolutionary mobile health clinic, known as HEART 7, is set to make its inaugural journey across remote Western Australia, bringing life-saving specialist care directly to underserved communities. Starting next week, the state-of-the-art clinic will visit key regional locations in the Pilbara, Kimberley, and Midwest regions, focusing on early lung cancer detection and treatment.
Heart of Australia Founder Rolf Gomes expressed pride in the launch: “We are incredibly proud to see the first truck of our national expansion hit the road. To date, we’ve treated almost 20,000 patients and directly saved more than 900 lives.” This expansion marks a significant step in delivering essential health services to remote areas, with Western Australia being the starting point of this ambitious initiative.
The HEART 7 clinic is funded by the Federal Government and will initially implement the National Lung Cancer Screening Program, with plans to extend services as needed. The program aims to address the alarming rates of lung cancer particularly affecting First Nations communities.
Deputy CEO of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, Dawn Casey, emphasized the urgency of this initiative: “We cannot afford to wait; early detection is critical. This program matters because our people must have care that is effective and culturally safe.” Dr. Casey highlighted the importance of providing accessible and culturally inclusive screening, allowing families to spend more precious time together.
The HEART 7 mobile clinic embodies a major advancement in healthcare accessibility, ensuring that vital services are delivered in ways that respect community values and the cultural significance of land.
As the HEART 7 truck gears up for its first stops next week, residents in remote Western Australia are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity for early detection and specialist care.
