reverend-showcases-community-spirit-with-custom-embroidered-stole

The Reverend Wayne Landford of the Lower Limestone Coast Anglican Parish is set to wear a newly crafted stole that represents the communities he serves, thanks to a thoughtful creation by his wife, Fiona Landford. This embroidered garment, designed with symbols reflecting the local areas, embodies both personal and communal significance.

Fiona has intricately stitched various motifs onto a white stole, including a bunch of grapes to symbolize Penola, gum trees for Kalangadoo, yellow-tailed black cockatoos representing Millicent, a jetty for Beachport, an obelisk for Robe, a lobster for Kingston, and a pelican. Each emblem corresponds to Anglican churches in these locations, with the exception of Beachport, where Reverend Wayne regularly conducts ecumenical Bible studies at the Beachport Tavern, previously known as Bompa’s.

“I admire the creative talents of Fiona,” Reverend Wayne expressed. “I will wear the embroidered white stole during significant occasions such as weddings, funerals, and important days like All Saints Day, Christmas, and Easter.” This personal touch adds meaning to his role as a minister, allowing him to showcase the rich tapestry of the community’s identity.

Reverend Wayne has had a busy year since his commissioning service, which took place one year ago under the guidance of Archdeacon Simon Waters, the Administrator of the Diocese of the Murray. His previous parishes were located in the dioceses of Canberra/Goulburn and Bendigo, making his transition to the Lower Limestone Coast a significant chapter in his ministry.

The stole not only highlights Fiona’s artistic abilities but also serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of the communities in the Lower Limestone Coast. It is a symbol of unity and pride that Reverend Wayne is eager to display during his ministry, reinforcing the bonds within these towns.

As Reverend Wayne prepares to don this unique garment, it stands as a testament to the support and love within his family and the wider community, showcasing how personal contributions can enhance public service.
