Greg Sewell, a celebrated figure from the Essendon Football Club, will showcase his vintage classic car at the Bridgewater Lake retirement village’s craft market on November 29, 2023. The event will take place at the community centre in Roxburgh Park, running from 09:00 to 14:00.

At 92 years old, Sewell has owned his 1957 President Classic Studebaker for nearly four decades. He purchased the car in the mid-1980s and has cherished it ever since. Reflecting on his ownership, he stated, “It was special for me to own a Studebaker after watching my family drive them when I was a kid.” His attachment to the vehicle runs deep, symbolizing a connection to his childhood and family memories.

Sewell is only the third owner of this classic automobile. The vehicle was initially purchased by a milk bar owner in Malvern. With its rich history and unique design, the Studebaker has become a prized possession for Sewell, who takes pride in sharing its story with fellow enthusiasts.

Aside from his passion for classic cars, Sewell has an impressive sports legacy. He played a total of 171 games for the Essendon Football Club between 1952 and 1961. His contributions to the club did not end with his playing career; he also served as an assistant coach during their premiership season in 1965.

The upcoming craft market presents an opportunity for Sewell to engage with the community and share his love for vintage cars. Visitors can expect to see the Studebaker up close while appreciating its craftsmanship and Sewell’s personal anecdotes about its journey.

This event not only highlights Sewell’s connection to the Essendon Football Club but also celebrates the enduring appeal of classic cars. As attendees gather at the Bridgewater Lake retirement village, they will experience a blend of nostalgia and community spirit, underscored by Sewell’s remarkable life story.
