URGENT UPDATE: The Yellowbelly Band is set to electrify the stage at the Wilcannia Golf Club this Friday, November 28, 2025, from 6 PM to 10 PM. Fans are gearing up for a night packed with live music and energy, following the band’s recent success at various venues across New South Wales.

In an exclusive chat with Wilcannia News, band member Kobie shared the exciting journey of the Yellowbelly Band, which formed just over a decade ago when he and fellow member Stephen connected through their mutual love for music in Bourke. “We grew up listening to our parents’ music, and it sparked our passion for playing,” Kobie revealed.

The band’s unique lineup features a blend of ages and backgrounds, with Kobie and Stephen at just 20 and 21 years old, while their bandmates, Father Oche and Dwayne, are 51 and 50, respectively. This dynamic mix contributes to their vibrant sound, which has resonated with audiences across the region. Dwayne, the drummer who recently celebrated a birthday, shares his experience learning the drums again after an eight-year hiatus, saying, “I tap the beat out on my dashboard to learn the parts.”

The Yellowbelly Band’s rise began earlier this year when they opened for acclaimed artist Fanny Lumsden at a local event. “We had no drummer at first, but we managed to pull it off,” Kobie noted, reflecting on their improv-filled debut. Since then, they have played every weekend, recently drawing crowds of 400-500 at their gig in Eulo.

This Friday, locals and visitors alike won’t want to miss their live performance at the Golfie, with a break for raffles during the show. As the band continues to gain momentum, their story exemplifies the power of community and shared passion for music.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good spot and enjoy an unforgettable night of rock and roll. Don’t miss out on this thrilling event that promises to bring together music lovers and create lasting memories in the heart of Wilcannia.
