ferrari-boss-admits-underestimating-team-s-psychological-strain

URGENT UPDATE: Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur has made a startling admission regarding the psychological impact of halting development on their 2025 Formula One car. With the Qatar Grand Prix approaching, Vasseur revealed that the team may have “underestimated” the mental strain this decision has placed on both drivers and staff.

As the only team among the top four yet to secure a win this season, the pressure mounts on Ferrari. Both Charles Leclerc and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton have voiced their frustration, with Hamilton labeling this season as the “worst of his career.” After qualifying in a disappointing 18th place for the sprint race on Friday, Hamilton’s struggles continue, following a last-place finish in Las Vegas the previous weekend.

“Quite early in the season, McLaren was so dominating in the first four or five events that we realized it would be very difficult for 2025,” Vasseur stated before the sprint qualifying at the Qatar GP. He confirmed that the decision to shift focus to 2026 was made by the end of April, a move he now admits may have psychological repercussions, especially with 18 races still remaining this season.

Vasseur acknowledged the tough nature of the decision and its impact, saying, “When you know that you won’t bring any aero development, it’s quite tough to manage psychologically.” Despite halting major developments, Ferrari has implemented some mechanical upgrades and operational improvements in their pursuit of better performance.

“I’m still confident with the call that we made,” Vasseur stated. He reflects on the team’s historical struggles, with their last championship win dating back to 2008. Vasseur empathized with his drivers’ frustrations, stating, “We have exactly the same frustration in the garage or on the pit wall. The most important is to react after the frustration.”

He added, “Honestly, the frustration sometimes is good … I would be even more frustrated if the drivers were happy when we have a tough weekend.” The team’s next challenge comes as they prepare for the sprint race, with every point crucial as they seek to turn their season around.

This developing story highlights the emotional and psychological toll within top-level motorsport as Ferrari aims to regain its competitive edge and restore confidence among its drivers and fans alike.

As the Qatar GP unfolds, all eyes will be on Ferrari to see if they can break their winless streak and regain momentum in the championship race. Stay tuned for further updates.
