The 2025 Beijing International Audiovisual Conference took place from November 27 to 28, 2025, bringing together industry leaders and representatives from over twenty countries and regions. Organized by the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau and the Administrative Committee of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, the conference aimed to foster high-quality development in the audiovisual sector and enhance international communication.

Key Themes and Initiatives

This year’s theme, “GATHER MOMENTUM FOR SYMBIOSIS, PIONEER THE FUTURE OF VISION,” set the stage for discussions focusing on innovative strategies within the industry. The conference featured an opening ceremony, a main forum, ten themed forums, and various supporting activities. The opening ceremony highlighted significant industry announcements and guest speeches from notable figures.

One of the key announcements was the unveiling of the Action Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of the “AI + Audiovisual” Industry in Beijing (2025–2029). This initiative signifies Beijing’s commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into the audiovisual sector through enhanced technology research and development, practical applications, and ecosystem building.

The conference also showcased the 2025 Funding Projects from the Beijing Radio and Television Online Audiovisual Development Fund. Aimed at supporting diverse creative outputs, the fund covers seven categories, including TV dramas, documentaries, and animated works, with a total of 161 outstanding projects receiving financial backing.

Innovations and Collaborations

The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area announced its initiative to cultivate a new innovation hub in the high-tech audiovisual industry. This initiative has led to significant achievements in establishing a comprehensive industry-chain ecosystem. Additionally, the Bank of Beijing introduced the “Bank of Beijing Financial Service Plan for New Quality Audiovisual Productivity,” which aims to provide full-cycle financial support for industry development.

The launch of the Beijing Big Audiovisual “Jing Langya” Master Studio also marked a significant milestone, as it aims to develop a multi-tier talent matrix within the audiovisual field.

During the guest speaker sessions, various experts shared insights into the future of the industry. Xiong Chengyu discussed production and dissemination techniques for online audiovisual products in the AI era, while Luc Bénaz explored potential collaborations between the audiovisual sectors of China and Africa. Other speakers included Fang Han, who addressed the impact of AI technologies on the content ecosystem, and Li Jiang, who outlined trends in the micro-drama market.

Moreover, Yilikhamjiang Ibragimov presented collaborative results from China-Kazakhstan dubbing and co-productions, highlighting the film “Waiting for You in Ili.” These discussions emphasized the importance of international partnerships in enhancing the global reach of audiovisual productions.

The conference also featured a series of supporting events, including “AI Animation Creators: How Universities Are Shaping the Future of Chinese Animation,” “Hearing the Future: Ultra-HD Podcast Theme Day Activity,” and the “AI Audiovisual Creation Carnival.” These activities aimed to engage participants in experiential learning and showcase the latest advancements in audiovisual technology.

The 2025 Beijing International Audiovisual Conference not only highlighted the current state of the industry but also charted a course for future developments. As the audiovisual landscape continues to evolve, the emphasis on innovation and collaboration remains crucial for fostering growth and ensuring global competitiveness.
