BREAKING: A 21-year-old man from Taylors Lakes has been charged following a dangerous high-speed chase on the Calder Freeway in Keilor late Sunday night. Police clocked the suspect’s BMW allegedly traveling at an astonishing 165 km/h around 10:25 PM on November 30.

Authorities report that checks on the vehicle revealed it was displaying cloned plates. The situation escalated quickly when police requested Air Wing assistance to track the speeding car as it surged to speeds of approximately 200 km/h on the Melton Highway. Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle, but the driver evaded capture, recklessly driving on the wrong side of the road.

The chase culminated at a property on Apollo Road in Taylors Lakes, where the BMW finally came to a stop in a driveway. Police swiftly apprehended the alleged driver, taking him into custody for questioning. The vehicle was impounded at a significant cost of $999.52.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including dangerous driving whilst pursued by police, driving at a dangerous speed, failing to stop when directed by authorities, and drug driving. He has been bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates Court on March 31.
