archibalds-aim-for-success-with-six-runners-at-scone

A recent victory in Perth has set trainers Annabel and Rob Archibald on a path for further success at Scone, where they will field six runners on Tuesday. The duo celebrated an impressive win last Saturday with their horse Libertad, which triumphed in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes by defeating the Bjorn Baker-trained Overpass. With momentum on their side, the Archibalds are looking to build on this triumph.

The Archibald team will begin their day with two contenders in the first race, the Darley Maiden Plate over 1400 meters. Spicy Surprise, ridden by Reece Jones, has shown promise by placing in two of three starts. Despite finishing seventh last time at Scone, he was well-supported in the market. All Kirked Up, under the guidance of Braith Nock, finished second in her debut at Canberra and faced a midfield finish at Hawkesbury in her recent outing.

Another pair of runners will represent the Archibald stable in the third race, the Coolmore Benchmark 58 Handicap, also over 1400 meters. Jones will ride the consistent Supairo, who narrowly missed victory, finishing second as the favorite at Nowra. Previously, he had placed in two runs at Muswellbrook and secured a fourth at Canberra. Nock will handle Insain Jewel, a lightly raced horse that claimed her maiden victory at the same track in June. Since her return from a spell, she has had two outings, finishing ninth at Kembla Grange and fifth at Newcastle.

In the following races, Nock will take the reins for both remaining Archibald horses, starting with Shakespeare’s Girl in the Select Events Maiden Handicap over 1200 meters and Trapeze Legend in the Arrowfield Benchmark 66 Handicap, also at 1200 meters. Shakespeare’s Girl faced a challenging debut in listed grade, finishing down the field in the Woodlands Stakes at Scone in May. Since then, she has had two starts, including a close run at Scone and a less favorable result at Hawkesbury.

On the other hand, Trapeze Legend has a solid record with two wins out of six starts at Scone and Bathurst last year. He has returned from a spell with two races, the latest resulting in a seventh-place finish behind Cresta Run at Scone.

With a strong lineup and recent achievements, the Archibalds are poised for a competitive day at Scone. Racing enthusiasts can follow their progress and view full form details and race replays at racingnsw.com.au.
