Bindi Irwin and her family have returned to Australia, bringing with them the joy of celebrating her brother Robert Irwin‘s recent victory on the American version of Dancing With The Stars. After a thrilling three-month competition, Robert, 22, captured the coveted title, garnering widespread attention and support from his family, who temporarily relocated to the United States to cheer him on.
As the family settled back into their Australian routine, Bindi shared a delightful moment on social media, revealing that the first thing her daughter, Grace Irwin, wanted to do upon their return was to see her best friend, Igloo. Igloo is a giant Aldabra tortoise residing at Australia Zoo. Bindi posted a video of Grace happily feeding the tortoise a stick of leaves, while her husband, Chandler Powell, watched fondly.
Celebrating Legacy and Conservation
Robert’s victory coincided perfectly with an important event in the Irwin family’s calendar: the annual Steve Irwin Gala. This event honors the legacy of their father, the late wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, and takes place in both Brisbane and Las Vegas. This year, the gala featured a poignant message from Prince William, who recognized Steve’s dedication to conservation and the importance of safeguarding the planet.
In his video address, Prince William stated, “Steve’s mission in life was to safeguard life on our planet. Tonight’s event is all about carrying forward that dedication to conservation and the natural world.” He emphasized the urgent need for collective action, stating, “As temperatures rise and resources diminish, we are approaching a defining moment.”
Bindi expressed her joy at being home in time for this significant celebration, where the family continues to promote their father’s mission of wildlife conservation.
Future Plans for the Irwin Family
Having returned to Australia, Bindi is set to continue her work at Australia Zoo, while Robert is looking forward to new adventures. Following his birthday celebrations, he expressed a desire to visit Australia soon but will first head to South Africa to film the next season of I’m A Celebrity, alongside presenter Julia Morris.
Robert’s win has also opened up new opportunities, as brands are keen to collaborate with him following his success on the dance floor. This victory marks a significant achievement for the Irwin family, as it follows Bindi’s own win on the show a decade ago.
Looking ahead, Robert has initiated a campaign to have their mother, Terri Irwin, participate in the show as well. “The petition to have my mum on Dancing With The Stars has begun, and I started it,” he said. Despite Terri’s reluctance, Robert is determined to convince her, believing she would excel on the show.
As the Irwins navigate this new chapter, their commitment to wildlife conservation and family remains steadfast, reflecting the values instilled by their father. The family continues to inspire many with their dedication to the environment and their bond with one another, all while adjusting to life back in Australia.
