Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter, Apple Martin, expressed mixed feelings about her mother’s on-screen romance with Timothée Chalamet in the upcoming film Marty Supreme. During filming in Central Park, paparazzi captured an intimate scene between the two actors, which left Apple, 21, feeling that the moment was “bad-a**.” In contrast, her younger brother, Moses Martin, 19, reacted with surprise, stating, “Oh, my God, Mom. This is too much.”
In a recent interview with Extra, Paltrow shared her children’s reactions to the photographs. The actress, who shares her children with ex-husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, revealed that while Apple embraced the moment, Moses had a more cautious approach. Paltrow described the filming experience, noting, “When you shoot in Central Park, there are so many paparazzi around. You’re just trying to focus on what you’re doing.”
Filming and the Story Behind ‘Marty Supreme’
The film, directed by Josh Safdie, is set in the 1950s and tells the true story of table tennis champion Marty Reisman, portrayed by Chalamet. The narrative follows Reisman’s determination to achieve greatness in the sport, showcasing the lengths he will go to fulfill his dreams. Paltrow plays a significant role in the film, which is scheduled for release on December 26, 2023.
Paltrow expressed enthusiasm for joining the project, particularly because it allowed her to work in New York, close to her children attending college in the area. She remarked, “I hadn’t really caught the acting bug back again, but Josh Safdie is so brilliant. It also dovetailed at a time in my life when all the kids went to college, and I had an empty nest. I thought, ‘Gosh, maybe this would be a fun or interesting thing to do.'”
The actress explained that it was not until she was on set that she felt her passion for acting reignite. “It just worked out in a really serendipitous way, and I’m so glad I did the film because I had so much fun doing it,” she added.
As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for Marty Supreme, with audiences eager to see how Paltrow and Chalamet portray their characters in this unique story. The film promises to deliver both drama and inspiration, set against the backdrop of a sport that has shaped the lives of many.
