78 houses wanneroo
UPDATE: Property developer Cedar Woods has just lodged an ambitious plan for a $30 million development of 78 townhouses in Madeley, immediately north of Kingsway City Shopping Centre. The proposal, now open for public consultation through the City of Wanneroo, aims to transform a vacant site into a vibrant community hub.
The development application includes plans for 70 two-storey townhouses and eight single-storey homes on a 1.85-hectare site, strategically located off Wanneroo Road. All vehicular access will be routed through Old Trafford Avenue and a future road connection to the north, ensuring no direct access from the busy Wanneroo Road.
Each townhouse will feature two parking bays, complemented by 19 visitor bays in shared areas. The varied designs include six dwelling types, with options for three and four bedrooms. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also caters to diverse family needs.
Urban design planners have expressed general support for the proposal, highlighting its potential to create an attractive and vibrant “urban village.” A design report states,
“The proposed development will support the self-sufficiency of the future community and sustainable planning practice by reducing the need to travel.”
The comprehensive plan includes a retaining and acoustic wall along the Wanneroo Road side to minimize noise impact, ensuring a peaceful living environment. The consultation period for this proposal is open until December 11, 2023, giving the public a chance to voice their opinions before a final decision by the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel, expected next year.
This development is poised to significantly impact the Madeley area, providing much-needed housing and amenities while fostering a sense of community. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the consultation process as this project moves toward realization. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
