topshop-returns-to-australia-myer-to-stock-iconic-brand-in-february

URGENT UPDATE: Topshop is making a comeback in Australia, with department store Myer set to stock the iconic UK brand starting in February 2026. This news comes almost six years after the last standalone Topshop store closed its doors, marking a significant shift in Myer’s strategy to attract younger consumers.

Myer will exclusively feature Topshop’s jeans and apparel across all 56 stores and its online platform. The announcement was made by Myer’s chief merchandise officer Belinda Slifkas, who expressed excitement about the return of one of the fashion world’s most celebrated brands. “We are thrilled to welcome Topshop to Myer,” Slifkas stated. “The London look is popular right across Australia from Perth to Bondi.”

The relaunch aligns with Myer’s ongoing efforts to refresh its womenswear offerings. In the past year, Myer has also added brands like JAG, Sportscraft, and Lioness to its lineup. This move indicates a broader strategy to cater to the evolving tastes of younger shoppers, a demographic that Myer aims to engage more effectively.

Topshop’s global return is not limited to Australia. The brand has recently been reintroduced in markets such as the UK, France, Ireland, and Denmark. Brand director Henrik Matthiesen highlighted the significance of this re-entry into the Australian market. “Working with Myer allows us to bring our renewed vision to the Australian market,” he said. “We highly appreciate our cooperation with Myer; to us, they are the perfect partner.”

The re-emergence of Topshop comes nearly five years after its former parent company, Arcadia Group, collapsed at the end of 2020. The brand was subsequently acquired by online retailer ASOS, which has since sold a majority stake to Danish fashion company Bestseller A/S. Currently, ASOS retains a 25% stake in Topshop.

This relaunch is particularly poignant as it follows the closure of the last Australian Topshop store in March 2020. Analysts previously suggested that Topshop struggled to differentiate itself from competitors and arrived in Australia too late. The brand had expanded quickly under retailer Hilton Seskin, growing to nine stores and 17 concessions in Myer before facing administrative challenges.

As Topshop prepares for its debut at Myer, consumers can expect a fresh collection that resonates with contemporary fashion trends while honoring the brand’s iconic British heritage. The anticipation is palpable, and shoppers across Australia are eager to see what the beloved brand will offer.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development as Myer gears up for the launch. This relaunch not only brings Topshop back to Australian shoppers but also reinforces Myer’s commitment to evolving its brand portfolio to meet the demands of a changing retail landscape.
