UPDATE: Two individuals have sustained serious injuries in a boating accident on Gunbower Creek Friday evening, December 11, 2025. The Marine Investigation Unit from Melbourne is currently investigating the incident, which has raised significant concerns in the local community.

In a separate incident, police reported a series of thefts in the area. Between 3 PM on Sunday, November 30, and 4:30 PM on Tuesday, December 2, offenders allegedly broke into a property on Lower Loddon Road in Kerang. Stolen items include a generator, a 9-inch angle grinder, cordless drills, and a compressor, escalating concerns about local crime rates.

Furthermore, between 9 PM on Friday, December 5, and 7 AM the following day, a vintage “Olympic Tyres” sign was stolen from a business in High Street, Charlton. The theft involved the use of an angle grinder, indicating a potentially organized effort.

In another burglary incident, between Saturday, November 29, and 7 AM on Monday, December 1, offenders accessed an office area at a property on Yeungroon-Woosang Road, Yeungroon. They located keys to a white Ford Ranger ute, which was subsequently stolen.

Additionally, from 5 PM on Tuesday, December 2, to 8 AM the following day, thieves targeted a vehicle parked at accommodation off the Murray Valley Highway in Swan Hill. Stolen tools included a Milwaukee impact driver, multitool, circular saw, and Pneuvibe earth hammer, causing significant disruption for the victim.
