Remedy Entertainment has officially announced the release of Control Resonant, a sequel to its acclaimed paranormal action game, Control. The game is slated for launch in 2026 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The announcement was made during The Game Awards 2025, alongside the debut of its trailer.
In this highly anticipated sequel, players will take on the role of Dylan Faden, the brother of the original game’s protagonist, Jesse Faden. The storyline unfolds in a distorted version of Manhattan, which is teetering on the edge of “paranatural annihilation.” According to the game’s description, Dylan Faden has been released from confinement by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) and is tasked with confronting a mysterious cosmic entity that threatens to alter reality itself.
As players navigate the transformed landscape of Manhattan, they will experience environments that defy natural laws and distort gravity. Dylan’s journey involves harnessing his newfound supernatural abilities to combat various threats while searching for his sister, Jesse, who serves as the FBC Director. The game promises a rich experience, allowing players to make choices, explore a deep progression system, and wield Dylan’s unique shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant.
Creative director Mikael Kasurinen emphasized that Control Resonant is designed to be accessible for new players, stating, “You don’t have to know the first game to jump into the sequel.” He described the project as “ambitious” and larger in scope than any previous title developed by Remedy. Kasurinen added, “We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience.”
