URGENT UPDATE: A woman has tragically died from her injuries following an alleged intentional hit-and-run in Maroochydore, located on the Sunshine Coast. This devastating incident occurred just before midnight on September 30, 2023, when a white Toyota Yaris reportedly plowed into a group of eight pedestrians.
Authorities report that a 23-year-old woman from New South Wales was critically injured during the incident and subsequently transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital. She was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on October 2, 2023.
The alleged perpetrator, Guilherme Dal Bo, aged 38, reportedly fled the scene after the collision. Police tracked him to an apartment on Alexandra Parade shortly thereafter. Witnesses indicated that Dal Bo was involved in an altercation with some of the group just minutes before the crash occurred at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Aerodrome Road.
In addition to the deceased woman, three other pedestrians, including two teenage men, sustained serious injuries during the incident. Authorities have confirmed that Dal Bo has been charged with eight counts of attempted murder and is expected to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on December 19, 2023. It remains unclear if the charges will be upgraded following the woman’s death.
