Motorists in Perth and Mandurah are advised to refuel today, as petrol prices are set to increase significantly starting tomorrow. According to FuelWatch, the average price of regular unleaded petrol (ULP) will rise by 22 cents per litre to 188.3 cents per litre from 06:00 on December 17, 2025. After this adjustment, drivers will likely encounter a week-long wait before prices reach their lowest point in the current cycle again.
FuelWatch reports that major fuel retailers will implement price hikes. 7-Eleven, BP, and Caltex are expected to increase their prices to 209.9 cents per litre, while Ampol will rise to 207.9 cents per litre. EG Ampol will adjust to 205.9 cents per litre, United to 195.9 cents per litre, and Vibe to 195.3 cents per litre.
Despite the impending average increase, there are still opportunities for savings. Currently, 33 individual sites in the area offer ULP for less than 160 cents per litre. Motorists are encouraged to visit the FuelWatch website to locate the lowest prices available near them. For example, purchasing ULP from the most affordable site rather than the highest can lead to substantial savings—up to $35 on a full 60-litre tank, given the 59 cents per litre difference.
