UPDATE: A stunning 5-metre pine tree has just been unveiled at Government House in New South Wales, marking the continuation of a cherished Christmas tradition. This magnificent radiata pine, sourced from Penrose State Forest, is now delighting guests and visitors as they enter the historic residence of Her Excellency Margaret Beazley AC KC.

The pine tree, carefully selected by experts from the Forestry Corporation of NSW, was transported to Government House in time for this year’s Christmas reception. This festive centerpiece symbolizes the longstanding relationship between the community and the state’s pine plantations, which have been thriving in the Moss Vale area for over a century.

In addition to the main tree at Government House, a 3.5-metre pine is also displayed at Vaucluse House, further enhancing the holiday spirit across the region. “Our team takes great pride in finding the perfect Christmas trees for Government House and Vaucluse House,” said Tom Bagnell, Moss Vale Area Supervisor at Forestry Corporation.

These trees not only bring joy to the community but also highlight the vital role of NSW timber industry. Each year, the pine plantations in NSW State forests generate enough timber to build 40,000 new homes, equivalent to the total housing stock in Orange, Bathurst, and Oberon. Mr. Bagnell emphasized the importance of radiata pine, stating, “It is essential for construction, landscaping, and everyday pulp and paper products that communities rely on.”

The Forestry Corporation is committed to sustainable practices, ensuring that every harvested tree is replaced. Over the past five years, more than 60 million seedlings have been nurtured in nurseries and replanted across NSW State forests, securing timber supplies for future generations.

As the festive season approaches, the unveiling of this majestic tree at Government House serves as a reminder of the connection between tradition, community, and the environment. For more updates on Forestry Corporation, visit www.forestrycorporation.com.
