URGENT UPDATE: The War Memorial Swimming Pool in Darlington Point has just unveiled a stunning new mural, completed in time for the Christmas season. This vibrant artwork, created by street artist Jordan Lucky, celebrates the region’s unique biodiversity and local landscape, transforming the pool’s exterior into a lively visual landmark.
The mural showcases a wealth of native wildlife, including the vulnerable Superb Parrot, Crimson ‘Yellow’ Rosella, and local bees, surrounded by detailed depictions of wildflowers and Golden Wattles. A subtle silhouette of the nearby Murrumbidgee River adds to the mural’s charm, emphasizing the area’s natural beauty.
Murrumbidgee Council has expressed excitement over the mural’s completion. Mayor Ruth McRae OAM stated, “The pool is a much-loved destination for locals and visitors. Free pool entry is a fantastic drawcard for families and travelers.”
This mural not only enhances community pride but also boosts local tourism, making the pool an even more appealing destination. The pool will remain open on Christmas Day, inviting patrons to join a relaxed group lunch from 1 PM to 2 PM.
Looking ahead, the community can gather for a festive pool party featuring a giant inflatable on January 7, 2026, promising a fun way to celebrate summer together.
The mural project was made possible through the generous support of an anonymous donor, highlighting the community’s commitment to enhancing local spaces.
As the holiday season approaches, the newly adorned pool is set to be a focal point for celebrations, drawing residents and tourists alike to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Darlington Point.
