On June 30, 2025, during a government reception in Bangkok, DIMOO, a character from POP MART, was awarded the title of “Special Friend of Thailand-China Golden Jubilee.” The honor was bestowed by Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Chang Yumeng, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand. This event coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and marked the unveiling of a limited-edition DIMOO figure, complete with an exclusive character design and an animated short.
The celebration illustrated the growing significance of art toys as cultural ambassadors, fostering connections between the two nations. The ceremony attracted notable figures including Mr. Sricharoen, Ms. Chang, and Chen Xiaoyun, Vice President of POP MART International Group. DIMOO, created by Chinese artist Ayan Deng, embodies a narrative of healing and friendship, depicting a shy boy’s journey through the Kingdom of Clouds, a realm where he discovers companionship and personal growth. This story resonates deeply with youth in both China and Thailand, transcending linguistic barriers.
For this special occasion, POP MART and Ayan Deng introduced a culturally inspired DIMOO figure. The design features a cloud resembling a baby elephant, Thailand’s national symbol, while DIMOO dons traditional Thai attire and leans against a fiery lotus, representing wisdom and the deepening friendship between the two countries. During the event, DIMOO performed a dance that blended both Chinese and Thai cultural elements, captivating attendees.
Ayan Deng surprised fans with an appearance at a signing session, where many brought their DIMOO collectibles for autographs. The character is increasingly recognized as a cultural symbol bridging the youth of both nations.
Further enhancing the jubilee celebration, POP MART collaborated with China Eastern Airlines to launch a special edition aircraft adorned with DIMOO’s design, celebrating the 50th anniversary. This aircraft made its inaugural flight on July 4, connecting various cities in China to Bangkok, reinforcing the cultural exchange.
Art toys like DIMOO have evolved beyond mere collectibles; they serve as a language that connects younger generations. As part of the 50-year celebration of China-Thailand friendship, DIMOO stands as both a commemorative figure and a visual symbol of shared experiences across cultures.
Since entering the Thai market in 2023, POP MART has gained popularity among local art toy enthusiasts. The opening of its first store in centralwOrld Bangkok attracted over a thousand fans, propelling the brand’s growth in the region. The launch of the world’s first LABUBU-themed store in Mega Bangna further solidified POP MART’s presence and emotional connection with Thai consumers.
POP MART expresses its commitment to nurturing this significant milestone in the enduring friendship between China and Thailand. By leveraging intellectual property as a bridge, the company aims to bring these two cultures closer together. Looking ahead, POP MART plans to continue fostering meaningful cultural connections and sharing the joy of art toy culture globally.
