Rudd, 56, revealed that he was eager to join the project primarily to work alongside Black again. During a joint interview with People, Rudd shared, “Every once in a while, something will happen where I’m afforded the opportunity to get to work with a hero of mine.” He turned to Black, adding humorously, “It happened on this one in the form of this old hunk of love.” Their camaraderie is evident as both actors reflect on their experiences working together.
The film features a talented cast, including Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn, who play key roles alongside Rudd and Black. Rudd emphasized the importance of the people involved, noting, “It’s the people, really, right?” Black echoed this sentiment, stating, “It is the peeps. It’s funny because in this movie we are playing filmmakers, and so in a way we are playing ourselves. It was very close to home.”
In Anaconda, Rudd portrays Ronald ‘Griff’ Griffen Jr., while Black plays Doug McCallister. The plot follows their characters as they venture into the Amazon to create a modern version of the original film, which starred Ice Cube, Jennifer Lopez, and Jon Voight. It didn’t matter what the time was or where you were. You’re a very good person. Honest to God, it was inspiring to see,” Rudd added.
