UPDATE: A shocking dog attack unfolded late Monday night, injuring three individuals, including a teenager ambushed in his own home. Emergency services rushed to Scott Close in Raymond Terrace shortly before 11 PM on December 29, 2023, after receiving multiple reports of a “large dog on the loose attacking people.”

Authorities from Port Stephens-Hunter police arrived to find a dog, identified as a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Mastiff cross, had already bitten a 36-year-old woman, a 35-year-old man, and a 14-year-old boy. The couple in their 30s was reportedly walking along the street when the dog ambushed them before entering a nearby home and attacking the teenage boy inside.

Paramedics treated all three victims at the scene and transported them to John Hunter Hospital. Thankfully, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. However, the traumatic event has left the community shaken.
