UPDATE: A woman’s evening out turned disastrous when she was caught drink-driving after having more than three times the legal limit of alcohol. Ashley Joy Allman, 24, of Ignatius Place, Kelso, pleaded guilty to high-range drink-driving in Bathurst Local Court today, following an incident that occurred on the night of October 16, 2025.

Allman was stopped by police on Graham Drive after leaving Paddy’s Hotel in a white Ford Ranger. Authorities report she was pulled over for a routine random breath test, where she recorded a staggering blood alcohol concentration of 0.153, well above the legal limit.

According to court documents, Allman intended to have just two drinks with her father during a brief stop after work. However, her plans quickly spiraled out of control as she ended up consuming six or seven drinks before deciding to drive home, just one kilometer away. Her solicitor, Evan Dowd, expressed regret over the incident, stating, “Unfortunately, she didn’t walk; she took the risk.”

With a prior drink-driving charge on record, Allman faced serious repercussions for her actions. Magistrate Gemma Slack-Smith emphasized the danger posed to the community, leading to Allman’s sentencing. She has been placed on a one-year community correction order and fined $2,000. Additionally, she has been banned from driving for 10 months, followed by a four-year interlock period.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with drink-driving. Authorities continue to stress the importance of making safe choices, especially when alcohol is involved. The incident highlights not only the legal consequences of such actions but also the potential for catastrophic outcomes that can affect families and communities.

As this story develops, readers are urged to stay informed about local efforts to combat drink-driving and promote road safety.
