UPDATE: A shocking stabbing incident has left two 15-year-old boys injured in Caroline Springs, Melbourne, just one day after another violent attack on the city’s iconic Lygon Street left two men fighting for their lives. The attack occurred on Tuesday evening, as a large group of youths gathered at a reserve off Garretty Rd, police say.

Authorities report that the two boys were found with non-life-threatening injuries when police arrived at the scene. They were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that the incident involved a machete brawl, although Victoria Police have not confirmed the specific weapons used.

This incident follows a harrowing stabbing episode on Monday, where a group armed with machetes attacked two men, aged 18 and 20, outside a restaurant on Lygon Street. Both victims were rushed to the hospital and are currently in critical condition.

The recent spate of violence has raised alarms across the state, with calls for action intensifying. In light of the increasing frequency of knife crimes, Premier Jacinta Allan has vowed to implement stricter measures, including a ban on machetes and tougher bail laws.

The violence comes on the heels of a tragic incident in September, where two young boys, Dau Akueng, 15, and Chol Achiek, 12, were killed following an alleged machete attack in Cobblebank. The boys were ambushed by a group of masked individuals while walking home from a basketball game.

Statistics reveal a troubling trend; between January 2014 and September 2025, 18 children have lost their lives due to knife homicides in Victoria. This data was highlighted during an inquest into the death of Solomone Kitione Charlie Taufe’ulungaki, who was fatally stabbed in 2020 near the Deer Park library.

“I urge the Victorian Government and relevant government agencies to continue to collaborate with community groups to ensure that any criminal justice responses to youth knife crime are co-ordinated and aligned,”

Coroner Ingrid Giles emphasized during the inquest, calling for a focus beyond mere law enforcement.

The community is urged to come forward with any information regarding these alarming incidents. As the situation develops, residents are left grappling with the implications of youth violence in their neighborhoods.

As the investigation continues, the Victorian government faces mounting pressure to address the root causes of youth crime and implement effective prevention strategies. The community is watching closely for any updates on this urgent and evolving issue.
